Six Sentence Sunday ~ Soul Mate

I'm shaking things up a bit... going to talk a little bit about Soul Mate. Kari is my werewolf heroine, trying to remain unattached while she protects innocent children from the boogieman... Nick is an FBI agent who has every desire to learn all of Kari's secrets... In the scene below Kari and Nick are inside a cave behind a waterfall in the Sequoias where they plan on staying the night. You'd think the big, bad FBI agent would be prepared like a good scout... he isn't!

“Do you have any matches in there?” He pointed toward her bag.

     “I have a lighter.”

     “Even better.”

     He lifted the bag and opened it up, pulled out her novel with two half-naked people on the cover, turned it over in his hands and narrowed his eyes at her.

     Her face grew hot.

     “I would never have guessed.” He laughed.

I'm very excited to see Kari and Nick get back out in the world to make people happy again. As some of you know this novella, Soul Mate, was previously released with a different publisher. After some time and effort I received my rights back and asked my publisher over at The Wild Rose Press if they would re-release it. New Cover/Publisher for Soul Mate

As some of you know, my novella Soul Mate was removed from circulation last year and is going to be re-released later this year with The Wild Rose Press. And not just a re-release, but a new and improved version of the original story. It isn't often we as authors have the opportunity to go in and play with a story after it's out for the public, but with this story I did have that chance.

Two new contracts for 2011

I just thought I'd share my latest news.

2011 will bring you two more releases from Catherine Bybee.

Soul Mate, previously published in 2009 is going to be re-released from The Wild Rose Press this year. I've made a few changes with it and couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Possessive, a novella length ghost story will be coming from The Wild Rose Press in 2011 as well.

I look forward to sharing covers, reviews and blurbs with you in the near future.

For a novella, Soul Mate delivers a knock-out punch. The plot is well-thought out, and from the very first page, I was caught up in the story. Kari’s situation definitely touched my heart. She turns a bad experience into something she can use for good. Certainly a perfect heroine! And how can you not like Nick? His relentless pursuit of Kari makes him an ideal partner for her. I truly enjoyed this novella, and I am pretty sure you will, too.

Brag Rag! ~~ Promotion on Tap

When I decided to write this blog... I considered how I might do a little shameless promotion, share with everyone my excitement over recent my recent reviews and tie in useful information about promotion.

You need to let me know if I managed to do all three.

I was called the promotional goddess this last week by Dayana Knight. I nearly spit out my coffee with that one. However, I do realize that I've done my share of research on the subject and truly try and find a new place to promo every week. Then I share that info with you guys via vlogs or yakking on loops or whatever.

Is it working?

Yeah! I'm happy to say it is. This last weekend I was up for Book of the Week at LASR's Whipped Cream and now I have this nifty button to place on my blog, website and newsletter. Not to mention Kilt Worthy has a lovely spot at the top of the Whipped Cream site. I shamelessly begged for votes via Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Blogger and Loops. Not to mention personal emails to nearly every writer I know.

You might say..."Well, that's nice and all, Cathy, but how does this equate to sales?"

I'll reply... "Well, little Miss Doubtful, in order to hit the bestseller lists on publisher sites and third party bookseller sites, you have to be selling books."

Have you released a book that never hit these lists? If so, can you pump up your promotion and make the next one surge to the top? And is there a next one? Because let me tell you, sister, book two sells book one each and every time.

August play dates...

I have kids, so when I talk about getting together with friends I think of play dates.
