I love days like this!

I can't believe I nearly missed the conclusion to the MacCoinnich Time Travel Series! I just had no idea it had been released but I'm so glad I snatched it up in the nick of time! So many times, I encounter series' where one or a few books don't hold the same type of magic that the first had, and I'm pleased to say, this is not one of them! The three books in the series, Binding Vows, Silent Vows and now Redeeming Vows, read as a seamless piece of work, where characters stay true to the first time we encounter them and if changes do occur, they still remain true to character.

This book finally tells the story of Tara's sister (from Binding Vows) Liz and Duncan's brother (also from Binding Vows) Fin. The two first encounter each other in Silent Vows and I remember being drawn to them from the very start! The chemistry between these two were intense in the beginning and remain that way. Supporting characters in Redeeming Vows also have such strong personalities that I'd love to read more about them. Including Liz's son Simon, and the youngest MacCoinnich's, Cian and Amber. There is an art to being drawn to characters who don't take center stage in a book and Ms.Bybee definitely knows that art form well. From first encountering Fin in Binding Vows and then being introduced to Liz in Silent Vows, I have always wanted to see their story unfold, either separate or together, the same goes for the younger cast members in Redeeming vows. I feel they each would have interesting stories to tell. I'm trying not to give away too much, but this conclusion in the series has one final story with Grianna who has been the constant villain since we first encountered her in Binding Vows. Character powers unfold more in depth.

This book has an incredible amount of action and of course romance that keeps you wanting to know what's going to happen next. This was definitely a fitting conclusion and Catherine Bybee, I'm dying to read more of your work!

Embracing the Wolf by Catherine Bybee is the fast-paced, tension-packed, and sometimes amusing sequel to Max and Janet's story in Before the Moon Rises. Much like its predecessor, I had a hard time putting Embracing the Wolf down. It picks up approximately eight months after the first book ends, continuing Max and Janet's story as a sub-plot culminating in the birth of their baby. Although this book can be read as a standalone, I'd still recommend you read Before the Moon Rises for full appreciation of Max and Janet's continuing storyline. It's nicely ties up all of Max and Janet's loose ends. Plus, I loved seeing the very put-together Max come apart at the seams at the birth of his and Janet's baby.


If like me, you're tired of the same old immediate attraction thing between a werewolf and his mate, don't let that issue deter you from reading this book. Ms. Bybee is absolutely one of the best authors out there at character development. From page one, she makes you feel her characters' emotional ups and down at gut level, as if you're living the story as you read it. In this one, she dumps you right into the action on the opening page, quickly establishing an engrossing plotline. And she presents a chemistry factor between Kate and Richard that encompasses enough doubts by them both to make for an absolutely believable instantaneous relationship. The love scenes between them are very sensual, yet sweet enough for the most timid of readers.

Okay... I have a few reviews to share with you for Embracing the Wolf. It's always nice to hear when people have read your book and liked it enough to say kind words.

In this companion to Before the Moon Rises, younger brother Richard gets his say. As with all Ms. Bybee's male characters, the Ritter brothers are delicious and just the sort of Alpha a sensible woman really wants. Gorgeous, intelligent, sensible, and with enough of a sense of self worth that he doesn't have to go around constantly proving how manly he is.

This is an exciting story with a heroine readers can relate to, struggling, single mom, trying to do the best she can in an often unfair and scary world. The love scenes are blacktop in July hot and the interactions feel real and unrehearsed. Everyone has choices to make and you can't help but hope they make the right ones.

She was, however, a good balance for the fiercely protective Richard. And though it was interesting as we were learning about how he becomes a werewolf, he was definitely not in his canine form long enough for this werewolf lover.

The climax of this story left me a little underwhelmed, but don’t let that deter you. Ms. Bybee definitely has a way with words, especially when it comes to love scenes. I could see the characters and feel their passion grow as the story continued. And if you like sweeter sex scenes, these are definitely for you.“Embracing the Wolf” is full of humor, action, lust and of course, hunky werewolves that will keep you entertained and howling at the moon.

Tara and her friend Cassy drive to a Renaissance Faire in the middle of nowhere California in the summer heat. Tara hates it from the get go. Cassy is excited that there is a witch that will read palms and dares Tara to go. Tara is twenty-five and still a virgin, so she decides that if the witch can guess that, she will shut up and pretend to enjoy herself. The witch guesses correctly and makes them into royalty during the fair. She starts to enjoy herself until a gorgeous man and his brother start talking about witches and druids. Duncan needs to take Tara away before Grainna can kill her for her innocence and will stop at nothing to do it; he just doesn’t think his feelings for her will get in the way. He decides that if he can’t save her in this time then he must take her back to his. He just hopes that she won’t hate him for too long because he wants her more than just a way to stop Grainna - he wants her for himself.


Binding Vows was such a amazing book. It is possibly the best I have read so far this year. In a typical romance where the woman or man travels back in time, it is usually dreamy and sweet. Not in this book. It tells what it would be like for a typical woman to go back. You have no indoor plumbing, cars, modern medicine or air conditioning. Doesn’t seem so romantic now, huh? Well, Tara is just that woman and she ain’t happy. It is hilarious watching her get to know her new surroundings and laughing at Duncan while he tries to make it easier for her. What a pair these two are. It was so much fun getting to know them. Of course, Catherine left a cliff hanger, and now we must wait for the next installment. Is it ready yet?

When Janet is propositioned to give the naked man who came into her ER earlier a ride home, every instinct that keeps the intelligent, attractive nurse healthy should tell her to say no. But something in her responds to Max in a very primal way. Considering he is furry when the moon goes full, she has no idea how primal her response really is.

Max finds it amusing when he learns that the attractive nurse is allergic to dogs, but since he is a wolf, not a dog, his need for her should cause no issues. He has found his soul mate in the lush nurse.

Together they must defeat his nemesis, who has marked her as his next kill. If they manage this and save his family, their love may stand a chance. But only if he can make her his mate, Before The Moon Rises.

Full of humor and sexual tension, I found this book an exceptionally fun read. Max is a vibrant character who rips his way into the reader’s heart with one tilt of his furry head. The characters are full of life from the leads down to Cat. The only drawback was that the ending felt rushed. If it was more smoothed out, this review would easily have been 5 cups.

Coffee Time Anyone?

I am a huge fan of Coffee Time Romance. We have such a grand time in the forums over there. I've found many a wonderful author and fantastic story that I wouldn't have if I didn't stop by CTR.

Spending several days at a Renaissance Faire does not thrill Tara McAllister in the least, but for some reason saying no to her best friend Cassy is nearly impossible. She is much more excited about returning to school and finishing up her nursing degree than sleeping in a tent and dressing like some 16th century maiden.

Blending in with people 600 years in the future is getting a bit easier each time for Duncan and Fin MacCoinnich. It is their duty to stop the evil Grainna from procuring a Druid virgin and returning to their time, and while deflowering virgins does not seem like a tough job, it is one that will cause unfathomable devastation should they fail.

Tara is fairly disgusted with every aspect of this ridiculous spectacle, and being a 25-year-old virgin has never felt as glaringly apparent as it does now. She is made the guest of honor, but until meeting Duncan, feels more like an animal in a zoo. Duncan is terrified for Tara’s life, and pulls out all the stops to see her safe. Their whirlwind relationship takes on a desperate tone as Duncan pledges his eternity and his people’s entire existence on a woman who does not even believe in her heritage.

There is something special about a fantastical story of time travel, witches, and Druids brought to such life and reality that you cannot help but feel completely mesmerized. The characters are a rich blend of complex emotions, attitudes, and abilities, especially the ever present harbinger of evil; she literally makes your skin crawl. I am truly excited when characters are allowed to be less than perfect, showing raw emotions, insecurities, and even rage. Tara and Duncan run this gamut and the reader is right there with them every step of the way.

Werewolf, Max Ritter notices the sassy nurse when he wakes after a night under the full moon. Unfortunately, his archrival is drawn to Janet as well. In order to keep her out of harm's way, he opts to keep her close. When the chemistry between them sparks, Max discovers a completely new reason to keep Janet safe.

When an injured, and naked man is brought into the emergency room where Janet works that last thing she is expecting is to end up going home with him and getting into the middle of some odd turf war.

Max has been hunting for Gormon for some time now. The rogue has been turning people and killing and has to be stopped. Max and his pack are hunting this monster and little does Max know that when he ends up in the hospital that he will meet his mate and find the resolution to the Gormon problem.

Catherine Bybee has created a shadow world of rich characters and a vibrant storyline. The characters are endearing and will tug at your heart while you find yourself immersed in this fantastic story.

I think what I appreciated the most about Before the Moon Rises is the level of belief I had in the characters. Catherine Bybee does a beautiful job of bring Janet to life and from there I found myself getting sucked into the story. It was easy to picture the ER and the tired RN trying to make it through that dreaded last hour before end of shift. I could easily imagine the stunning Max coming along as a wonderful highlight and complication to her day!

In the end BTMR turned out to be a lovely `short and sweet' shifter romance. The world building was remarkable complete and yet not so overwhelming as to detract from the plot. The character were very nicely portrayed and the interactions and relationships did not feel overly forced or expedient but rather just seemed to fall into place naturally, no mean feat for such a short piece.

Overall a nicely written story with a very believable RN and a gorgeous wolf shifter.

Soul Mate has another steller review

Bitten by Books has given Soul Mate 4 1/2 tombstones!

After becoming a werewolf, Kari Pearce lives a very lonely life. Fearful of rejection, she hides her “affliction” from everyone, even her sister, and she constantly guards her heart. However, she is able to accept and make the best of it. Her wolfish senses are magnified in comparison to normal humans, which help her become an exceptional private investigator. Thus, it is not surprising that she saves a child from an abductor and helps the police catch the perp.

FBI agent Nick Murdock comes to the Sequoias due to the kidnapping case. When he sees Kari, she immediately touches his heart as no woman ever had before. She is an enigma to him, and being a good FBI agent, he plans to get to the bottom of it. After all, her secret is keeping them apart.

For a novella, Soul Mate delivers a knock-out punch. The plot is well-thought out, and from the very first page, I was caught up in the story. Kari’s situation definitely touched my heart. She turns a bad experience into something she can use for good. Certainly a perfect heroine! And how can you not like Nick? His relentless pursuit of Kari makes him an ideal partner for her. I truly enjoyed this novella, and I am pretty sure you will, too.

When I decided to write this blog... I considered how I might do a little shameless promotion, share with everyone my excitement over recent my recent reviews and tie in useful information about promotion.

You need to let me know if I managed to do all three.

I was called the promotional goddess this last week by Dayana Knight. I nearly spit out my coffee with that one. However, I do realize that I've done my share of research on the subject and truly try and find a new place to promo every week. Then I share that info with you guys via vlogs or yakking on loops or whatever.

Is it working?

Yeah! I'm happy to say it is. This last weekend I was up for Book of the Week at LASR's Whipped Cream and now I have this nifty button to place on my blog, website and newsletter. Not to mention Kilt Worthy has a lovely spot at the top of the Whipped Cream site. I shamelessly begged for votes via Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Blogger and Loops. Not to mention personal emails to nearly every writer I know.

You might say..."Well, that's nice and all, Cathy, but how does this equate to sales?"

I'll reply... "Well, little Miss Doubtful, in order to hit the bestseller lists on publisher sites and third party bookseller sites, you have to be selling books."

Have you released a book that never hit these lists? If so, can you pump up your promotion and make the next one surge to the top? And is there a next one? Because let me tell you, sister, book two sells book one each and every time.

Alisa is hell-bent on making the most of her Highland assignment.

Just because she’s there on official business doesn’t mean she can’t mix it with a little pleasure. And when Colin appears wearing a kilt and knowing smile, Alisa jumps in and licks up every inch that her Highland Hottie offers.

For the record, I love ‘em kilted, and boy does Eliza March know how to deliver them.

Alisa and Colin dive in for all the wrong reasons, or maybe the right ones, and come out on the other side much more fulfilled then either of them expected.

Steaming hot and well worth your time, Hot Highland Fling is a must read!
