She pushed her way through the crowd on a collision course with Neil. He kept his lips in a thin line as she approached and gripped the long neck bottle at his side.

Slipping between the woman on the stool next to him and Neil’s massive frame, she slapped her hand on her hip and growled. “What are you doing here?”

He blinked, once, and picked up his beer. “Having a drink.”

She wanted to scream. “Having a drink,” she repeated.

He tilted the bottle back, took a swig.

“I know what you’re doing, Neil. And I don’t like it. I don’t want or need a bodyguard.”

“That’s debatable.”

If stomping her foot would knock some sense into him, she’d stomp better than a farm girl in a vineyard.

Poking a finger into his chest, she moved closer. “Do you have any idea how difficult it is to have a love life with a two-hundred thirty pound bodybuilder standing in my way?”

A muscle in his jaw tightened. “Two-hundred and fifty.”

“Ahhh!” She did scream now, in a growling frustrated kind of way.

He lifted his beer again, but before he could take a swig, Gwen grasped it from his fingers and tilted it back herself.

In a move that would make Eliza and Karen proud, she pushed the empty beer bottle back into his hand and slid between his thighs.

His jaw twitched again.

The strong musky scent that was pure Neil swam up her nose. She dropped one hand to his thigh and left it there. “This is how I see it, Neil. You have two choices. Either back off or step up.”

Gwen squeezed her hand before twisting out of his personal space and marching back to the girls.

A satisfied smile stretched over her face.

I have the best fans evah! I don't even have the print out yet and Married by Monday is hitting the charts on Barnes & Noble. And lookie there... Wife by Wednesday is getting a 2nd wind. Yesterday Sam and Blake made another appearance on Amazon's top 100 in Kindle books.

I'm supremely happy to have the reviews I do for Carter and Eliza. I was a bit worried, as some of you know. The pressure of writing a great follow up to a New York Times Bestseller was much greater than I thought it would be. I didn't want a repeat of Wife...but I did want to keep some of the same tone.

As some of you know, I'm a pantser as a writer. I have a general outline but the meat of my books is written as I go. I thought I had a handle on where this story was going and then BAM! Eliza had a gun in her purse and the story took a turn.

Let me tell you about the power of reviews. Most people only write a review if they really loved a book, or if they hate a book. For an author, reviews on Amazon or B&N or even Goodreads, is a way for a reader who might not have read the author before make a decision to try someone new. 


One of the reasons "Romance" is a comfortable read for us is because we know there will be a HEA. We tend to stick with the same authors because we 'know' them. but we all love to find someone new, someone untried. 


Reviews help overall sales for an author. Even bad ones, which is kind of strange. If you only see glowing reviews chances are you'd think the author has 'planted' those reviews by asking their friends to go on and rave. When not so great reviews are posted alongside the good ones it adds validity. Strange, but true. 


I've only had a couple of 'not so great' reviews as of yet. I'm sure there will be more. It's not possible to please everyone with every book. But as of now I don't think most of my fans will be disappointed with Married by Monday... and that is because many of you have taken the time to tell me you enjoyed my story.

Married by Monday ~Excerpt~

A longer taste of Married by Monday.  Enjoy!

He folded his arms over his chest. “I suppose you could say I’m following Blake’s lead. Marriage solves a few fundamental problems in my career path.”

She stared at him full on now, not trying to look away. “Your problems. Not mine.”

“Problems you helped play a role in.” He saw the spark in her eye before she managed her first syllable of defense.

She sat the tea down and placed a hand on the counter. “That’s low, Carter.”

“And true or you’d be the first to tell me I’m wrong. If I had a choice, I’d be married by Monday to help dispel all the media crap created by yours and Gwen’s night on the Texas town. I thought I could come to you and obtain a little bit of cooperation.”

“A little bit of cooperation. Marriage is a tad more than a little bit of anything.” Her voice rose and her knuckles started to grip the counter.

“Yet you earn your living arranging marriages or partnerships on trite reasons less important than mine.” How dare she follow a moral high ground. Maybe she’d forgotten how well versed he was on her and Samantha’s business.

“You forget that our clients have to approve of the relationships we arrange. They have to like the person—”

He laughed, interrupting her. “Do you really want to pretend we aren’t friends to prove your point?”

Her cheeks grew rosy which he had to admit was a much better than the pasty color she’d been sporting when he walked into the house. He felt the fire burning inside her as she shot daggers with her eyes.

“You’re my best friend’s husband’s friend. If you’re looking for a wife you might peek into your little black book, or whatever it is you use, and draw another name.”

Carter let his arms drop and took two steps closer. The angrier she became, the more his blood churned. His body responded to her outrage, but not in anger. “I don’t want to draw another name.”

I love Carter and Eliza. And this story has more depth. I hope you're all ready for that. Some of what made Sam and Blake so much fun was the ease of their relationship. There are some unexpected twists in Married by Monday...a little romantic suspense...and a whole lotta tension to make it all pop.
