Make Welcome Laura Landin

·         Please join me in welcoming Laura Landin to my blog today. She has three wonderful books to talk about today. As I do with all my fellow Montlake Authors, I have several questions about her experience with this new and amazing publisher.

How has Amazon Montlake been to work with?

Montlake has been utterly amazing! I couldn’t be happier. Montlake contacted me at about the time they released their first romance. I have to admit, I’d never heard of them – so I turned them down! Thankfully, my Prairie Muse editor explained who they were and suggested I call them back and at least talk to them. It’s a call I’ve never regretted making. I cannot imagine any other publishing house being as considerate of their authors as Montlake is. They are amazing!

·          What do you think about self publishing?

If it wouldn’t be for self publishing, I wouldn’t be a published author. Because of self publishing, I am able to get my stories into the hands of readers. That’s something I never thought I’d do. Self publishing opened doors that were closed to many writers and I love every minute of it. This is a perfect time to be a writer.

·          What do you love about being a writer?

I love creating characters and building their worlds. I love inventing a larger-than-life hero and a heroine who can give him a run for his money. I love dragging my characters through every imaginable hardship, then making him or her a better person for what they’ve endured. But, I especially love that last page, where my characters find their happily-ever-after.

·          What do you hate about being a writer?

I hate the self-doubts and fear that every writer has. I’m always terrified that my story isn’t any good and no one will like it. That’s a fear that never goes away, no matter how many books I write. I hate staring at two possibilities and not knowing which one my character should choose. I hate the isolationism of being a writer. But most of all, I hate the thought of never getting to tell another story.

·          If there was one thing about the industry you could change, what would it be?

I think that change is already happening. Self published authors are already seeing their works validated. And the role of a traditional publisher is already changing. The time when a traditional publisher determined a writer’s success or failure is over. Like I said before, this is a wonderful time to be an author.

·          Nearly all romance novels have shhh, sex, in them. How do you answer the never ending question, Why do you write THAT kind of book? Or even better… How do you do your RESEARCH?

I simply tell the person asking the question that I only know what I’ve read in books.

·          What do you like better, Twitter or Facebook? Why?

I have to admit I like Twitter better. I’m not sure why except I can’t navigate my way around Facebook. Twitter is easier for me and it’s faster and I don’t have to figure out how to download pictures.

·          And the most important question ever... Do you roll your toilet paper over the roll or under the roll?

Definitely “under”. From little on, that’s how Mom made us do it. It was just like hanging socks on the line. They all had to “walk” going the same direction!

Tell us about your latest release and were we can find it.

I’m really excited to announce that on October 16, 2012, Montlake will release three Victorian Era Romances.

THE MOST TO LOSE
A High-Stakes Courtship
When Jonah Armstrong, Earl of Haywood, returns to
London after a three year absence, his plan is simple:
re-enter Society, find a wealthy bride, and save the Haywood
name from ruin. He has no time for distractions. Yet when
he encounters Lady Cecelia Randolph, Jonah can’t resist
a flirtation. After all, his feud with her brother, the Duke
of Hadleigh, necessitated Jonah’s recent exile; he’s entitled
to his revenge. But within seconds Jonah realizes he’s
underestimated Cecelia. The gangly girl he once knew has
blossomed into a beauty of rare intellect and character. He
can’t possibly marry the Duke of Hadleigh’s sister…can he?
A Gamble of the Heart
Cecelia has loved Jonah forever, but she’s no fool. His
attentions are motivated not by passion, but by her generous
dowry—and his thirst for vengeance against her brother.
Yet when Jonah risks everything to protect her from her
brother’s crazed fury, Cecelia dares to hope true love is
within her reach at last.

SILENT REVENGE
A Marriage of Convenience
Such is the agreement forged between Lady Jessica Stanton
and Simon Warland, Earl of Northcote. Jessica needs a
husband strong enough to protect her inheritance from her
avaricious stepbrother. Simon needs money to restore the
family legacy his father squandered. United by necessity,
emotional attachment isn’t part of the deal.
An Unexpected Passion
Yet once the reluctant newlyweds are living under the
same roof, Simon can’t ignore the startling intellect, gentle
strength, and graceful beauty Jessica keeps so carefully
hidden from the world. And Jessica is intrigued to discover
Simon’s formidable temper masks a kind, noble heart. But
when Simon’s true motive for their marriage is revealed,
Jessica is devastated by his betrayal. Because, despite her best
intentions, she is falling in love with her husband. And love
is the last thing either of them wants—though it may be
exactly what they need.

INTIMATE DECEPTION
A Desperate Choice
Lady Grace Warren will do anything to protect her sisters,
even betroth herself to a man so depraved that all of London
fears him. Faced with a lifetime of misery, Grace has only
one chance for escape: to relinquish her virtue before her
wedding. Such abandon will destroy her reputation—
and ensure her freedom. But when she disguises herself
as courtesan to lure a handsome nobleman, she cannot
anticipate the tender surprise destiny has in store…
A Twist of Fate
Vincent Germaine, Duke of Raeburn has lost two wives in
childbirth and still has no heir. Racked by guilt and grief,
he seeks comfort in the arms of an enchanting stranger. But

in another dangerous pregnancy, he sets out to track down
the innocent female—only to find his heart captured by a
woman of incomparable courage and beauty.
