Get a life, people.

I just had to post this after I saw it. I remember when Kilt Worthy was first released... I had a couple of people come up to me and say... "You might not want to tell everyone about this, people will talk and you help out at the school." "Your the scout leader, do you want the parents knowing..."

*rolls eyes*

Very interesting Catherine! Really, what in the world are people thinking? I was told many times (complete strangers and family members too!) I won't be taken seriously as a writer if I write that 'smut'...that's what they calle it. I guess times haven't changed much over the past couple decades, huh? People really do need to grow up. *rolls eyes* Geesh!

I love the part where he talks about what he would have done had he known when he was in school... laugh!

There are a lot of 'book burners' in the world.

Loved this! It is sad but true. People just need to get a grip and get over it. Its none of their business. What she does in her spare time is her business not the worlds. I support her all the way. Great post Catherine!

I have to admit this video had me cracking up. But what he expresses is so true. These parants sought out to ruin this woman's career for what? Because she enjoys writing erotica novels in her free time? It's ridiculous.

Great post, Catherine. I just don't understand why people feel the need to stick their noses in other people's business. Why should we have to keep our mouths shut about what we write? If a person doesn't like it, then don't read it!!!
Glad you posted this, Catherine.

I wouldn't dare write erotica because I can't write good sex scenes and am embarrased when I try, so I feel to each her own! If you can write good sex scenes, do it. I think I know partly what the poor teacher is going through. I do substitute teaching in my local schools and I think I've been banned from working in some schools because I've told kids I write inspirational romance, no sex, and have shown some my books in an attempt to get more kids interested in reading and writing because they've met a real author. Burns me up, but there's nothing I can do to prove it.

Some people who will do anything to destroy someone else. Why? To make themselves look better? Because they don't think like they do? Because they're jealous? Because they don't look the same? Because they have a different religion, a different color skin, a different sexual preference? Or because they write the wrong kind of books? To me, this is just more of the same crap I've heard all my life. We really need to learn to be more tolerant.

Hey, Catherine - I saw this last week on You Tube, and by the time the video was over, I was standing at my desk, clapping and "whoo hoo-ing". Love it. Oh and btw, Judy Mays's novels are selling like HOT CAKES! Ah yes, sweet, sweet revenge! Mmwwhhhahaha...(evil laugh, there).

What kills me most here... who the hell do people think write these novels? People doing time in the state prison? And... for every person who writes, there are thousands who read. People love their e-readers because no one can see the naked cover people.

Blah!
Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Thanks so much for posting this. I think I'll share it on my FB page. When this story first broke, I felt most sorry for Judy. But now I feel more sorry for the idiots who have condemned her. Judy is going to be just fine and sell a ton of books. Her *accusers* will get what's coming to them somehow--what goes around comes around.

Holy Fright! But it happens. If my employer discovered I wrote erotica, I'm not sure of the consequences. So the pen name.

Catherine,
I wish people would get over these Puritanical traps! I, for one, would rather see people in love than killing each other! Although I do have that in my novels, too.

I also saw this video last week and believe that we live in very sad times. These parents that are complaining are probably the same parents that are too busy shifting from work to home, trying to get children to events that they spend no time just hanging out with their kids. So, now it is the teachers vault when the children act out or have a thought that is so far off the society base that “IT MUST BE THAT SMUT HER TEACHER WRITES", grammatically correct I might add. Wake up America the person who has the largest impact on your child is you, think about what kind of thoughts is this shaping for their children.

I can relate to this. I work in a school, and when I first wrote my "romance novel" I talked to my principal about it. He mentioned something about as long as it was not 'dirty' it should be fine. What? He left and I got published.

I don't go around talking to the kids about it anymore after an 8th grade boy read my first one because he wanted to be a writer and I was the only writer he knew. It's PG-13 rated at the most, but it was still embarrassing.

Then a female student wanted to be a writer and I told her I was a published writer in hopes of inspiring her dream. She wanted to read it and contacted my via email. I talked to her mom and told her I didn't want her to read it. Her mom did and was glad I told her about it. She didn't let her daughter read it. I haven't gotten any negative responses, but I don't let out that I write romance anymore, only that I write for adults, not kids.

I've started writing erotica under a different name, and as long as we're writing under a different name, it's really none of their business.
