Deadlines...love 'em or hate 'em?
For the first time in my writing career I have deadlines. Dates circled on a calender when I have to have my work to my publisher so they can then go forth and do their part.
And you know what?
I like it.
Is it stressful? Yeah, kind of. But I was always that girl who did better with a budget, did better with a time limit to get stuff done. In my early twenties I was a full time student, worked 30 plus hours in a day job...taught aerobics at a local gym and still managed to date my now husband. Busy! So busy!
Deadlines make me streamline what I'm doing, and how much of the non essential stuff I can put aside until I meet my deadline.
So if you don't see me online as much as usual, know I'm working hard to bring you more books to read.
Have a great week!

I LOVE deadlines! I work best knowing when I have to have something complete...then I push myself to beat my deadline. I'm so competative that I'll even race myself! LOL
Example:
My original publish date was 12/15/2012
I've been able to move the date up until 9/30/2012!
Love it!
I totally agree! Love deadlines too.
In fact, I could never understand why other students at school and then at uni preferred coursework to exams. I really disliked having an assignment hanging over my head for weeks, when I knew I'd always do it in the last 3 days. I always preferred exams. The best form of deadline. Three hours to write - go!
Now I'm a writer and editor, sometimes turnarounds are almost as tight as an exam - a few hours. None of those people who doubted exams were preparing you for real life could do my job!
I'm the opposite. I work best without the pressure. I actually accomplish more, more quickly without it. Probably why I'm more excited by the idea of self-publishing better than traditional.
