A few days in...

Oh, the wanderlust of my family. We all climbed into the 31 foot tin-box we call an RV… Or the ‘Big Rolling Turd’ we robbed from the movie RV with Robin Williams, and headed East.
As some of you know I in So. California and we’ve had a very cool winter. Snow a couple of times, which is unheard of, and rain to the point where our water rates really should go down now (yeah right! Like that’s gonna happen) – Anyway, I digress…
Here we are, on the road again. It’s the beginning of day three and we woke about 100 miles outside El Paso Texas. Yeah, that’s like 800 miles in two days. We have been driving about 8 hours a day… give or take. The speed limit out here in Podunk nowhere is 80. *bug eyes* - And we found the heat.
New Mexico along the 10 freeway is about the most boring stretch of road we’ve driven. There is truly nothing to see or do along the way so far. Our intention is to drive a lot in the desert Southwest and slow down about the time we hit San Antonio Texas where we want to hit the Alamo.
The rolling house is holding up well this trip. Considering it’s a brand new RV it should… but we’ve had plenty of issues in the recent past. The frig didn’t work on one trip, the slides on another… a fuse went out that took away the electrical system and we couldn’t locate the fuse which was buried under a bunch of batteries under the rig… So having a fully functioning RV is a blessing.

The real test will be if the family can get along for the entire time we are traveling. We take turns driving, the hubby and I… though he does most of it. The kids play games, watch TV and bitch a lot… grin. We stay in nowhere places that we wouldn’t even consider stopping in if we were at home. But hey, gotta do what ya gotta do.

Well, this vacation update will have to live inside my laptop for a little while, cuz here in Podunk Nowhere the internet connection isn’t strong enough to even check my email, let alone update my blog…

Follow me on facebook and twitter for updates.

Gee, we have a 37 foot RV and love it. Gotta give props to being able to go to the bathroom in somewhere OTHER than a rest stop. Have fun!!!
