Catherine-

Great video! I know I commented over on FB, but I wanted to here as well. I really enjoy your blogs and when we get the extra treat and GREAT topics in a video blog, it makes it even better!

DREAM BIG!

Amen, Sister... I'm a dreamer... Why not, right?

The dream is the start - and then go out and do! (Which I know you can, Catherine :) )

My goals? I don't do the whole five year plan thing - sounds like I'm interviewing for a marketing job. Short term? To get things in order that have gone badly awry. And then we'll go from there.

LOL -- I love it. I'm one of those who fights against the delusions of grandeur you were talking about. I don't like to say I want to be a NYT bestseller in five years because it might not happen. What I usually say is, I'd like to be able to support my family with my writing in five years so my husband can quit working. But I think you're right, Catherine, we need to dream big. So here goes: I WANT TO BE A NYT BESTSELLER IN FIVE YEARS.

There, I've said it ;).

Great post! Whenever I tell people that I have a P-L-A-N, I get one of two responses. Wishful envy or pure skepticism. My two-year plan is pretty simple. I want my entire short series in publication. I also want to get my contemporary romance finished and out. Finally, I want to finish my young adult trilogy for shopping around. Now these aren't the only WIPs, but these are my more immediate goals.

Those who don't plan don't go anywhere... Good for you, Emma.

That was a FANTASTIC blog! Yes, dream big! Why not? Big dreams are just as achievable as small ones if we are willing to work for them. I think the main reason people are afraid to really speak out loud what they want is they are terrified it won't happen. My philosophy is that I would rather wish for the universe and get a proportion of it than wish for nothing and get all of it. I really enjoyed this blog.

In five years, I will be on multiple bestsellers' lists. I will own a home rather than rent. I will be with a big publishing house. My work will be selling so quickly that I won't be able to keep up with it, and the extra money will be set aside for my son to go to college. By then, I'll be ready to start thinking even BIGGER...

The future looks good, Catherine!

Oh Catherine you are so cute!! And a 15 and an 18 yr old, that requires a lot of time and work. You have one that made it almost totally grown up and if a good person, you can be proud of that.
Always aim higher than you could ever go, where would you be if you aimed low?

Good for you, Catherine! Where would we be without our dreams? I just love the CA positive attitude! You sound like my brother-- who also lives in CA! And I totally agree. We need to set our goals and aim high. So yeah, I'll be there on that bestseller list making lots of money with my writing-- maybe before five years! How's that?

Hi, Mary... God I hope my boys simply stay straight and are good people... I always say to them...
"Don't do anything perminent." SP??? Well, What I mean is... no tattos..piercings etc, until theyare old enough to understand that they are forever... And yes, Aim high!

Kaye: Is it a California thing? See now... I thought the video was a CA thing... and gee, the vanity is a bit scorn.. no one noticed I spent a bit of money this week on a new hair-style... UGH! lol, guess I need to spend more next time.

My writing goals - Okay, here is me being positive, lol - I'm going to sign with a top agent. Sign a contract with a big pub house. Hit the lists. Finally earn enough money so my husband can give up working. Continue writing the romances I love... big dreams, but why not. I agree Catherine, we should all aim for the stars!!I
