Cool idea Catherine! You go girl! I had trouble hearing what you said. I had the volume all the way up. It might just be my computer. I don't know. But I can hear other post of You Tube. Keep up the good work! Kitty
Hi Catherine - great idea - you got me thinking about video blogging and maybe soon it'll happen for us. I'm also working on my 2nd book trailer - my first for TWRP (my other book contracted a few years ago with someone else - see www.bhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd6kWFvwKDw - I struggled for days with that beginning video. I'm going to try your suggestion of words first before pics. To me the hardest is the pics since they are so difficult to find matching style-wise. At any rate, good idea - lynn romaine (www.ecosuspense.blogspot.com)
Catherine, you are sooo cute! I think that worked really well. So much fun to see your personality along with the words.
Now I did all right with the volume and only had it about halfway up. The only thing you might want to watch (and you did say you have Phtoshop?) Is that your end credits for TWRP and your book cover were kinda blurry. HOnestly, I don't know if it's because of translsating the static pic format to video or what...don't have any experience with these things.
Catherine this is a very neat idea but only one problem is the volume *sighs* Other then that I like this idea and you are very pretty. It was nice to see you. I look forward to more video blogs of you :)
If I were beautiful and cute like you, I'd do a video blog, too. Fantastic--except--the volume was not hihg enough. I did hear, but it was turned all the way up and I had to lean close. Work on that, my friend! It's a great idea. Celia
Great idea, Catherine. I agree on the volumn and I'd shorten it, but other than that, I loved it. I'll not be doing one because I'd dare not show my face without my war paint!
Good luck. I look forward to seeing your book trailer.
You're adorable! But then, I already knew that. :-) Editors have a way of knowing these things. Maybe it's because we spend so much time in our authors' heads...!
Volume worked for me, but not if I was in a noisier environment. Other than that --- IT WAS AWESOME!
I'm so proud of you! You take risks and lead the way and get things done! AND have fun, and provide entertaining and educational moments for the rest of us.
Can't wait to see what's next from you -- like those revisions I sent you! LOL Just kidding -- it's my turn next.
LL
P.S. As one of your editors, I'd agree -- of course the words come before the pictures, darlin'!!! Doesn't the book get written before the cover art is done?! There's a reason for that, O Creative One!
I love it, Catherine! Your spunky, friendly personality is just as I imagined from your comments on CTR. I mean, you have your picture, but the viewer really gets a sense of who you are from this video blog, which is a great idea, though if I did it, I'd need to tame my hair and put some decent clothes on instead of wearing my pajamas!! Julie
This was a lot of fun! If I had a clue, I'd do a video blog. But I'm a techie idiot. I didn't have any problem with the volume. I thought the whole thing rocked!
Thanks Julie, I tell ya... one of these days my video blog will be done in my bathrobe and no make up... Okay... maybe not NO make up. Anyway, glad you liked it. Gotta love the double negative. grin
And Helen. LOL! Techie idiot? I'm sure you meant that in a loving way. Between that comment and Aithne's about only liking it because I 'plugged' her name... I'm laughing. I'm laughing right now so don't think I took offence, I know you didn't mean it that way... But boy was it funny to read.
First of all let me say this is a great idea! Now of course I want to do it. God knows, its one more thing I'd have to put in my time management planner, LOL
Now on to book trailers. I've done two book trailers. Well...let me reiterate on that. I did all the hunting for stock photos and music and wrote my scripts. Allie Boniface actually produced they great! if I say so myself:P-- but I was as involved as I could be and it is quite a project. Finding just the right photos and music takes hours and hours of searching. It is not something for the rushed person to take on. A book trailer needs to represent the mood, theme, imagery, characters in your book. You want to capture the reader and peak their curiosity. Let's face it--you want them to buy your book. And of course you can load them in so many places today. YouTube, Preview the Book, websites, blogs... They are a great PR device.
Anyway, my two cents on building a book trailer. I have also blogged about how to build a book trailer. Please feel free to visit www.dayanaknight.blogspot.com and take a look through the archives.

Yeah... the volume sucked. Man, I hope it works for most people.

Very, very cool!
Oh Catherine, I loved it, it was so nice to actually see you!!!
LOL! What a hoot! I loved the little words flying in and out. Perhaps keep it under a couple of minutes.
And it's easy to upload to your blog. Use the embedding code on your YouTube page.
you did a great job
Ohhh good. I hope the volume wasn't a problem for all of you. Thanks for all the feedback.
I'm happy dancin' in my bathrobe!
(Now you can visualize it)
Cathy,
This is absolutely GREAT! I'm just saying that because you 'buzzed' me. lol...
It's wonderful to see your lovely personality and creativity on the screen. You may just start a trend here. (no, I don't have a webcam... hehehehe)
Later, my friend.
Aithne
Catherine, how neat! I now have a feel for the real you after writing back and forth this past year. So nice to see in this way!

Rest assured... a mic is on my new wish list so future blogs can be heard. But it was fun... huh? As for the 'cute' bit. *blushing* thanks.
And if you didn't read Aithne's note... hehe She forgot the word NOT. lol
What a great idea! The volume was a little dicey. I was doing a lot of shushing when my family was being "noisy". And when aren't they?!
I too had a little problem with the volume, but I think it's an effective technique.

Wicked cool idea! Well done!
(I was another volume problem, but I will check it tom. on other browsers and another machine)
Nice to 'meet you'!
Oops! Forgot to say, agree cmpletely with the RWA opinion. I am currently a member, but have no intention of renewing after the latest contest fiasco!

You know, Lori. After reading your comment I will forever call you O-B-ONE. Gonna stick, sister. You laugh now... But it's gonna stick.
Funny... it never occured to me to write the words before the 'cover art'.
Live and learn.

Liked the concept. Great idea!
Catherine, that is a great idea! Funny blog! I've never thought of doing a video blog before. It's really a good way to let your readers know you. :)
You are so much braver than me! Great job talking that long without a million um's. :) I would definitely check out more video blogs.
Gee guys thanks again. I'm such a ham! I already have another video blog in the works so please stay tuned. So-to-speak!
LMAO! I loved it! I didn't have any volume problems. Now I'm off to watch the other one. :-)
