Great video, Catherine and VERY TRUE. It is important for critique partners to be honest without being cruel. That's what they are each there for, to help each other improve their writing skills.

Catherine, I love the video blogs. I agree that critique partners should be able to offer their opinion without fear, and it is equally important for us as writers to be able to accept the critique.

Thanks Barbara and Emma. I'd rather have my writing torn apart by a CP than a review after the book is already out there.

You are a gift, Cathy. I just grin and grin when I watch your video blogs. Your smile and enthusiasm are contagious.

I agree - CPs have to be honest otherwise there's not a lot of point. I can't imagine being without mine - we've been together for six years and have seen each of each reach publication.

I agree with your take on a CP. It is so important to help each other, and to be honest. I too would rather have my work torn apart before I submit it and not after!

Ack! How did I miss this blog? I love your videos.

Yes, it's so important to be honest in critiques. Yet also to be positive. I work with a local critique group, and also with two online CPs. They each bring something different to the table, and I personally feel the more feedback, the better. As you said, Catherine, much better to have it ripped apart before publication than after!
